Portsmouth, NH, June 17, 2013 – Alexandra Urbanowski joins Opus following her role as Vice President for Development and Marketing at New Hampshire Public Radio. Alexandra will team-up with fellow partners Annie de Cossy, Jamie Forbes and Rebecca R. O’Brien at their offices on Court Street in Portsmouth. Now in its third year of business, Opus Advisors has worked with more than 25 organizations covering a broad range of work, including international groups such as Oxfam America and local Portsmouth start-up, 3S Artspace.
“I am thrilled to join Opus,” says Urbanowski. “I hired them several years ago and was impressed by their strategic focus, their ability to understand our challenges and to think creatively about how to plan for the future.”
With the addition of Alexandra Urbanowski, Opus enters a new phase of expansion – enhancing its branding and communications team, adding fundraising expertise, nonprofit financial management skills, arts administration experience and expanded geographic networks. Opus will now have greater capacity to serve clients on the west coast and internationally, using a collaborative approach and the knowledge of all four partners to support their clients.
Since 2009, Alexandra has overseen NHPR’s fundraising and marketing operations. In 2009 she helped complete NHPR’s $6.5 million capital campaign for a new broadcast facility and tower expansion. She will continue to advise NHPR and direct its fundraising efforts as an Opus partner throughout 2013.
“My experience at NHPR has been filled with incredible opportunities, and I’m very happy to continue that relationship as I transition into my new role with Opus,” explains Alexandra. “Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients is a hallmark of Opus’ work, and our ongoing work with NHPR is a terrific example of that.”
Before returning to New Hampshire, Alexandra spent twenty years in San Jose, California where she served as Chief Operating Officer of American Leadership Forum Silicon Valley and as managing director of Silicon Valley’s largest professional theater company, the San Jose Repertory Theatre. She was active in the downtown redevelopment of San Jose, directing a major capital campaign and construction project for a new performing arts center and serving on the boards of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, San Jose Rotary Club, and as a mayoral appointee to the San Jose Arts Commission. In New England she has worked with Boston-based Facing History and Ourselves, the Women’s Fund of NH and Andy’s Summer Playhouse. She has worked with a range of nonprofit organizations on strategic planning, campaign management, Board development, marketing, general administration and fundraising. She is currently on the Board of CONFR, the Council on Fundraising. Alexandra is an alumna of Smith College.
“Alexandra brings extensive knowledge, expertise and intelligence to her work, and we are excited to add her to our team as we continue to work with clients both locally and internationally. She is a great fit for our practice,” states Anne de Cossy.
